“that Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareag, and all the proud men spoke, saying to Jeremiah, You speak falsely! The Lord our God has not sent you to say, Do not go to Egypt to dwell there.”

Jeremiah 43:2

I was reading this last night and a thought occurred to me. Look at all the calamity they went through, because they did not heed Jeremiahs warnings. And look at all the prophecies that Jeremiah gave that came to fruition. How could they not heed his warnings to not go to Egypt?

They even went a step further and called him a liar. In their stubbornness, they were going to have their own way. That’s scary to me, because we have a way of repeating the past. If that happened to them that could also happen to us. Really, It has probably already happened.

We need to wake up. He will not force us to listen, but there are consequences to not listening. Let us stick close to Gods Word and lets us not depart from it.

I chose to humble myself today so I don’t get humbled…. Let’s pray that our nation does the same. Pray against our pride that we know better then God lest we fall.
