1 Timothy 1:3

“As I urged you when I went to Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrine any longer.”

1 Timothy 1:3

There is not much to learn about Timothy except for a couple of letters addressed to him by Paul. But just in these two letters, we can look at Timothy and say, “This is a man who I can relate to.” Someone who struggled with what I struggle with today.

These include finances, commitment, purity, relationships, fear, loneliness, rejection, etc. But when I looked at these two letters, the message I saw was CONTENTMENT.

My heart sank when I read these words that Paul penned to Timothy. Stay in Ephesus, stick with it, continue the struggle, don’t bail out!

All of us have been in places in life that we do not want to be, but sometimes, God tells us to stay. Sometimes, God needs you right where you are. There’s a job that needs to be done, and He needs you to do it.

The question is, can we be content with that? Can we just rest in Him and pour ourselves into the task God has for you for now? Can I be content, satisfied, at peace until God moves me?

I rest in this, my friends, and believe in this: “that whatever comes unto my life enters only by his loving permission” Job 1:8-12 But, “I believe it will result in his ultimate good” Romans 8:28

Our attitude affects our latitude. Today, I choose to make the best of where God has me. Today is all that I have, and I choose to live each day with contentment.
