1 Samuel 17:38-39

“Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened his sword over his tunic and tried walking around but he was not use to them. I cannot go in these he said to Saul, because I AM NOT USE TO THEM, so he took them off.”

1 Samuel 17:38-39

This passage of scripture has been a game changer for me. It opened my eyes to a spiritual truth that I never caught before in scripture. I hope it does the same for you.

I think we can all agree, that this story of David and Goliath is astonishing for me and you. Probably the outcome was a surprise to Saul, David’s brothers and Sauls army. The only ones that were not surprised was God and David. God was not standing back wiping off the sweat from His forehead saying, we just dodged a bullet here.

I came from this story this time saying, I want what David had. This time, when reading this story, I focused on some different words. It was when David said, I can’t wear your armor. I AM NOT USE TO THEM. I believe that he was actually saying, I am not use to defeating the giants in my life in my strength but in Gods.

Sauls armor literally means man’s way. David even made reference to the bear and Lion that was defeated not on His strength but the strength of the Lord.

If we do it, we got to prop it up, but if God does it, He props it up. I don’t know about you, but I am too tired in propping things up. If God does it, then He gets the glory.

More on this tomorrow. There is a better way! ITS GODS WAY!
